This site contains things about China. It contains things such as a recipe from my country and a picture of the flag of China. Also this site contains a story from my family that I found very interesting the first time I heard it. It also contains my family history and a biography of a famous person.
China's Culture
We the Chinese are people who have ceremonies in our everyday life. Two of our most largest holidays is the lantern festival and the Chinese New Year. The Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival is a time in which the family members get together and renewal of the spirit is involved. The Chinese New Year began from a way to keep Nian away from the village because it was eating the villagers for it could not find food.
The Lantern Festival
The Lantern Festival is also known as the Yuanxiao Festival which is held on the 15th of the first Chinese Lunar month. It is the last day of the Chinese New Year which determines the end of the New Year. The main tradition of the festival is to hang beautiful lanterns outside our homes.
One legend of how The Lantern Festival began is to the worship of Taiyi in which we believed control the destiny of the Human World. So as to prevent the god from giving people a bad destiny they began a ceremony dedicated to this god and this ceremony lasted all the way to night.
Other legends are the one about how this festival started is connected with Taoism.
